This page is for Complaints and Abuse issues regarding other users or IRCops, including Admins.

Be assured that your concerns will be taken seriously, and will be fully investigated.  Upon receipt of the complaint, we will contact you to let you know the name of the Abuse Team Member investigating it, as well as any additional information we may need from you.  No complaint is taken lightly, and even those against Admins and IRCops will be investigated.

We define "Abuse" as

  • Abuse of IRCop power or status
  • Intimidation of other users (verbal threats, threats of nuking, etc -- their mere presence does NOT qualify)
  • Ban Evasion -- Defined as purposefully changing host mask and/or ident information for the specific purpose of accessing a channel while they are actively akicked or banned.  A rotating IP address due to dialup, or partial rotation of a mask due to dialup does not qualify.  If you suspect this is happening, use a broader ban mask.  For help, see an IRCop online.  We DO consider a person who has just been banned, who logs off, and immediately returns with a new mask (as in changed ISPs) and then re-entering the channel as Ban Evading, since this is an obvious ploy.
  • Unwanted Flooding -- Defined as excessive private messages or CTCPs from another user.  If its done in the channel, then ban them!  It's only Abuse if it's done as a private message and/or outside the channel.
  • Other Deviant Behaviour -- Independently evaluated by our Abuse Team, on a case-by-case basis.

Appeals of Team decisions can be emailed to abuse@jetirc.net
