What is The Difference Between a HiT, Helper, Senior Helper, CiT, IRCop, Co Admin, Server Admin, and Network Admin?

With the exception of the first two Helper classes, all of these are known collectively as Opers (aka O:Lines). They all have some same things in common: they are the executives of the network. But there are Levels.

HiTs... short for Helper in Training these are regular users that are currently in the process of training to become full Helpers

Helpers are users that have been trained and are fully qualified to help other users with IRC and network questions.  Generally, people become Helpers so they can contribute to the network by helping other users in need.  This can sometimes even lead to becoming an IRCop.

Senior Helpers are users that have been trained and are fully qualified to help other users and helpers with IRC and network questions.  These people are also expected to assist in training and recruiting new Helpers.  This usually leads to becoming an IRCop.

CiTs... short for irCop in Training these people are those who are being trained and prepared for full IRCop status.  These are Local Opers, and have power (for commands like /kill) on only their home server.  In other words, they can only exercise this power over other users on the same server as themselves.  The point of CiT is mostly "probation" to see how these people behave when they have some power.  After 2 months as CiT (or sooner), they must undergo a series of tests.  If they pass, they graduate to full IRCop.  If they fail, they spend another 2 weeks in training, and then are re-tested.

IRCops, aka Cops, IRC Cop... This usually refers to Global Opers.  Local Opers can only perform commands like kill if the intended recipient is on the same server as the Oper, and we use Local Opers to designate CiT's.  Globals can work across the servers.  IRCops cannot send you a lost password (Unless they are SOPs or SAs). But, they can kill, ban, and other stuff.

Co Admin are usually "backup server admins" for their server. They are usually given the position because of contributions they make of a technical nature.  Note that they are still considered standard IRCops in every other way, unless otherwise promoted.

Server Admin denotes as Server Owner (not to be confused with Services Admin).  These people are still technically only IRCops, unless otherwise trained and promoted.

A Network Admin is the highest rank within the Network.  These people are the ones who run the show.

What are SOPs, and SAs?

All of these ranks have to do with Services.  These people have varying levels of access to the Services commands.  Higher up = more commands.  With the exception of HOP, all of these ranks must also have some level of Opers.

What Can An SOP Do?

An SOP Is Services Operator.  These people are able to perform higher levels of commands with the services.  Basically, they are allowed to add to the AKILL lists, among other things.  They can be found in #JetIRC, if you need them.  They can suspend channels, and manipulate certain channel settings, such as the topic.  They can also forbid the use of Nicks.  They cannot, though, view or get your password.

What Can An SA Do?

Similar to an SOP, but with more power.  SA stands for Services Admin. They can do all that SOPs can do, plus a bit.  They are able to get your lost passwords as well.  SAs are special people. They can do a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff with services, they can add SOPs and they can pakill and remove pakills (PAKILL is a Permanent Auto Kill).  These people can view your password, but will only do so if necessary.

Well, Is My Password SAFE?

Yes.  SAs go through long training on how to use GETPASS (gives the Oper your password). Plus, Services logs everything to a log that is reviewed frequently by the Network Admins.
