1. IRCops are not required
to idle in #Help, but are
encouraged to do so. Helpers, on the other hand, are
required to idle in
#Help when online.
2.
No begging for ops. If you want ops, you will be required to take and
pass the test.
3.
Try to keep the language in both #JetIRC and #Help
channels
as English, and foul language to a minimum
(in #Help). Because English is a new or second language to many users,
try to use as little slang as possible. As most Language to English dictionaries
do not use these, they may be confusing or misinterpreted by these users.
Check out the
Translation
link in case you need it in the future. In #Help, speaking
in other languages is allowed when necessary, but is discouraged.
4.
All Opers and designated helpers are required to be as respectful as
possible. No name-calling, put-downs, etc, if a user does not understand
you. Do not embarrass a user or another Helper/Oper in front of the rest of
the channel.
5.
Give users the benefit of the doubt. Ask them to tell you what the problem is if
you don't understand what help they need. Don't try to second guess the user.
You cannot always see the problem from their end.
6.
Restate the issue as you understand it if it is still not clear
7.
State clearly the rule, policy, technique or command requested or needed to
provide requested help
8.
If you can not help the user with their problem, send them upwards. You can also
send them to
http://www.jetirc.net/help
9.
If you are unable to remain objective, try to stay calm, and allow an other
helper to take over with the user. We all need to work as a team, and we all
have our strong and weak points in certain areas. We also want to give opers,
channel ops/founders, and our network a good name.
