Here is a web-based Java interface to JetIRC.net 

If you don't have an mIRC client (click here to download one) on your computer, this applet is the next best thing!  Just fill in the nickname you want in the box, or leave it as is.  Then choose a channel, click Connect, wait a second or two, and you'll be online!

• If you don't like the way text is displayed, simply click the Font button (bottom right) to change font type and size.  Monospaced 12 is likely the best choice.  We're waiting for the next version of this applet where we'll be able to code that in by default.  For now, we're at the mercy of JVM (the Java interpreter on your machine).
