I know you've all been waiting for me to get around to updating the website,
and I'm sad to say I never have had time even still..... However, Diamond
has insisted on reviewing it anyways! Once she finished retching
into a bucket after seeing how my Attention Deficit Disorder has vomited
forth the spastic colours onto the pages of this site, she declared that the
renovations were to begin NOW. To that end, we'll be quietly working away on the website, while Diamond slaps my hands and checks the pages after me, to ensure the site colours are safe for human consumption. We hope to have some new looks for you in the coming weeks and months, and we'll be reviewing and updating all the printed content on the site as well -- help pages and such. | 07 Jul 2003 | Finally Updated the Website!! After many months, I have finally had time to sit down and massively update the website. Most of what has been done as of today is structural and aesthetic updates, removal of no-longer-used information, and general cleanup. Some areas will still be out-of-date, such as the staff lists. The help areas are mostly current, though there may be a few incorrect bits -- I will not be updating those until after next month. The IRCop and Helper areas have been given a much-needed re-tooling. Please report any problems, errors, or comments to the Saturn, using this form, or by email to saturn@jetirc.net. |
| 30 Jun 2003 | Upgraded to Unreal version 3.1.6 We are now running the latest in the 3.1.x series of Unreal IRC Server. This version is primarily a bugfix version to prevent an exploit recently discovered in 3.1.5.1 that allowed any user to crash out the server based on a rather obscure command sequence. Please report any problems to the abuse team, using this form. |
| 21 Jan 2003 | Upgraded to Unreal version 3.1.5.1 We are now running the latest in the 3.1.x series of Unreal IRC Server. There are a few changes to how it behaves for IRCops, the biggest of which is that IRCops can no longer accidentally ban-walk. Once they are banned from a channel, they must /invite themselves to that channel in order to beat the ban. This means they will only ban walk in an emergency, and there should be no more abuse problems with Opers violating bans -- all banwalks are now logged by the system. Additionally, all IRCops now have the oper flag v in their O:Line. This is what allows them to /invite themselves to a banned channel, and also what allows them to force mode +o +v, etc for themselves when they do not own the channel -- these forced modes are also logged by the system now. Any IRCops who are found guilty of abuse of banwalking or mode forcing without just cause, will simply lose their v oper flag. Please report any problems to the abuse team, using this form. |

| 24 Jun 2002 | Services updates have been coming fast and furious with little bug fixes along the way. So far they have proven very stable, and reliable. However, if you ever notice anything strange going on, or what you think is incorrect action for services in your channel (allowing a person to remain Opped after a netsplit, when they shouldn't be, etc) then please contact Saturn right away, so he can report the bug (if it is one), or explain why it did what it did, if that's what it was supposed to do. =) |

Due to the fact that the operators of lopes.jetirc.net could not find the time to do the required IRCop training and testing, as is required of all new server owners, that server has been delinked from the network. Any users connecting to that address will be redirected to one of the other servers on the network. We're very sorry to see them go, but it's the only way we can maintain the high quality of staff on the network. |
